Vivian L. Lugo-Eschenwald, MD, owner and partner in Family Medicine Associates of Alexandria, located in Alexandria, Virginia, graduated from the Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1990. After she completed her residency at the University of Maryland Hospital in 1993, Dr. Lugo-Eschenwald became board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. An advocate of natural family planning, she trained in the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System in 2005 under Dr. Thomas Hilgers. She has lectured first-year medical students on the topic at Georgetown University School of Medicine and has mentored medical students interested in NFP through her practice. Interested in health promotion and disease prevention, Dr Lugo-Eschenwald is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Metabolic and Nutritional Medicine from the University of South Florida and is a member of the American Academy of Antiaging Medicine. Establishing Family Medicine Associates of Alexandria with Dr. Mircea in 2001, Dr. Lugo-Eschenwald alternates with her partner as company president. Carolyn Tran is a certified Physician Assistant through the NCCPA and a valued member of the Family Medicine Associates of Alexandria team since 2021. She is passionate about building strong relationships with patients of all ages, guiding them and their families through every step of their health care journey. Carolyn prioritizes clear communication, ensuring patients understand their conditions and feel empowered to make informed decisions about their treatment.
Carolyn earned her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Lincoln Memorial University. Today, she brings her expertise and dedication to providing attentive, high-quality care to the Alexandria community.
Her clinical interests include Cardiology, Women’s Health, Mental Health, Nutrition, and Fitness. Carolyn’s care philosophy centers on listening to patient needs, offering unbiased information about management options, and partnering with patients to choose the best path forward.
Her ultimate goal is to deliver equitable, comprehensive care that improves health outcomes and enhances quality of life for every patient she serves.
